AI Editorial Assistant
How the embedded AI assistant works in the Dyrected admin panel, including live streaming, reasoning accordions, and human-in-the-loop diff proposals.
The Dyrected Admin panel includes an embedded AI assistant that acts as a real-time editorial partner for your team. Editors can brainstorm ideas, rewrite copy, query collection statistics, and generate structured content without leaving their active editing tab.
By the end of this page, you will understand how to access the assistant drawer, how live reasoning and streaming work, and how the human-in-the-loop proposal system protects your live database.
Accessing the assistant drawer
The assistant is accessible from anywhere in the admin panel via the floating Lip Trigger button located on the right side of the screen.
- Click to Open: Click the floating sparkles trigger on the edge of your screen to slide open the assistant panel.
- Keyboard Navigation: Press
Escapeto close the panel orEnter(withShift+Enterfor multi-line breaks) to send messages. - Deep Linking: You can link directly to a specific conversation thread by appending
?aiThread=<threadId>or?aiThread=newto any admin URL.
The review and proposal workflow
Safety is central to Dyrected AI. The assistant cannot directly overwrite your database records behind your back. Instead, all content creation and updates go through a visual Human-in-the-Loop Proposal workflow:

│ Editor: "Rewrite this headline to be punchier" │
└───────────────────────────┬────────────────────────────┘

│ Visual Word Diff Card: │
│ [- "Old boring headline" -] [+ "New Punchy Headline" +]│
│ │
│ [ Reject ] [ Approve & Apply ] │
└────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘1. Requesting Changes
When an editor asks for an edit (e.g., "Make this introductory paragraph more engaging" or "Create a draft service for Executive Coaching"), the assistant drafts the content and invokes a mutation proposal tool (proposeUpdateDocument, proposeCreateDocument, or proposeUpdateGlobal).
2. Inspecting the Visual Diff
The assistant renders an AI Action Proposal Card directly in the conversation.
- Green Highlights: Added words and fields.
- Red Strikethroughs: Removed words.
- Clean Formatting: HTML and rich text fields are cleanly rendered so editors see the exact readable copy.
3. Approving or Rejecting
- Click [Approve & Apply] to commit the changes directly to the database. The active form updates immediately.
- Click [Reject] to dismiss the proposal without modifying any records.
Live streaming and reasoning transparency
While the assistant generates answers, the UI provides real-time visual feedback:
- Live Streaming Caret: An animated blinking indicator follows text as it is generated token-by-token.
- Reasoning Process Accordion: When using reasoning models (such as DeepSeek or OpenAI o-series), internal thoughts are neatly collected in a collapsible Reasoning Process accordion, keeping the main chat clean.
- Tool Execution Breakdown: When the AI searches documents, queries collection counts, or performs vector similarity lookups, an expandable Actions pill displays each executed database operation.
- Stop Generation: If an answer is running too long or you want to revise your prompt, click the red [Stop] button to abort streaming immediately.
Conversation history and threads
Every conversation is automatically stored in your database under the _dyrected_ai_threads and _dyrected_ai_messages system tables.
- Resume Past Threads: Click the History icon in the panel header to switch between previous conversations.
- Smart Auto-Titling: After your first prompt, Dyrected automatically generates a concise 3–5 word title for the conversation.
- Thread Management: Rename threads, clear all conversation history, or delete individual conversations on demand.
